In Queensland, 9% of all workers are employed in the tourism Industry, and one job is created for every 167 domestic visitors! In terms of direct expenditure, tourism is the seventh largest Industry in Queensland!
An interesting statistic is that Australian tourism created 1.8 million new jobs in the service Industries between 1984 and 1997. The manufacturing, mining, and agriculture Industries provided 500 new jobs during the same period.
With the surf beaches, the accomodation, the natural beauty, and the built attractions, tourism provides jobs for thousands and thousands of Sunshine Coast and hinterland residents.
