| The Sunshine Coast Queensland is a fish persons paradise, as us locals know!
The ocean beaches provide a wide variety of fish, and most are easily accessible. If you have a four wheel drive, you can pick whatever gutter you like to fish in.
Fish move up and down the beach, and I well remember trying Fraser Island beaches all day for a feed of dart, and had no luck at all until just before packing it in, I tried a gutter just outside the Resort, and found the fish! As we know, fishing is unpredictable.
The Dams and freshwater impoundments can provide good fishing at times. Most are regulated, so you will need a Permit, and you will need to find out what the regulations are. Find the link below.
The estuaries can provide a good feed too, when tides and conditions are right, with crabs, bream, whiting, mangrove jack, and flathead. Pumicestone Passage and the Noosa River and Lakes are all popular fishing spots..

| We wouldn’t presume to tell a local where or how to catch fish, everyone has their own secret spots, and we are not telling where ours is either!
However if you are a visitor or new resident, and want to find out where to catch fish, the best sources of info are the tackle shops. Talk to the staff. Ask questions. They know where the fish are biting and the best baits to use. They are all fishers themselves, so they know what they are talking about.
If you intend to do lots of fishing, pick up a copy of Brownies Beacon to Beacon Directory, it’s the best all round fishing guide I have seen yet.
Anyway, we will lead you to find information that you can use to improve your catches. Above you find some links that will help you to increase your catches. We suggest you bookmark this page, because we suspect you will be back here often!
Good fishing, Patrick! |
